| Incremental sheet forming |
| Incremental forming technology is the ideal solution in order to make prototypes and small batches of pieces in carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium alloys, brass, copper. The sheet metal forming can be performed by Montes using incremental forming operations. In incrementalforming technology, a sheet of metal is clamped in place a forming tool then gradually traces the contours of the required shape under CNC control. We design the mathematical model by means of 3D modeling software and the tool path by means of a dedicated CAM software. As the forming takes place, the sheet is pulled down over a support post or simple mould made from low cost, disposable materials. Incremental sheet forming is not a high speed manufacturing process and thus is well suited for prototype parts and small volume products.
